Riiffs — the Emirati house behind the original Freeze — just put out a flanker called Freeze in Flames. Full disclosure: I haven’t gotten my hands on this one yet, it’s still on my to-buy list, but enough people in the groups I follow are talking about it that I wanted to write up what I know before I actually try it myself.
What’s in it
Top: raspberry, “snowflakes” (not totally sure what that translates to on skin, but I like the concept), Calabrian bergamot, passionfruit, red apple, spearmint. Heart: lavender, spearmint, tea, sage. Base: cedarwood, musk, and something called Amber Xtreme.
The part that’s got my attention
Riiffs is using some newer IFF ingredient tech in this one — a Raspberry Pulp Extract and a Passionfruit Pulp Extract, and from what I’ve read this is supposedly the first fragrance to use both together. I can’t confirm from personal experience yet, but the people who’ve already tried it are saying it comes across as more real and juicy than the usual flat fruity top notes you get at this price point. That’s the main reason it’s on my list.
What I’m hearing about how it wears
“Fire meets ice” is the marketing line, and from what other people are reporting, the icy raspberry-mint opening actually does contrast against a warmer cedar-amber close later on. A few reviewers who already own the original Freeze are saying this one keeps that same refreshing character but adds more depth from the fruit and warmth from the base. Longevity reports I’ve seen put it around 6-plus hours with the mint-fruit-musk drydown still noticeable the next morning — I’ll update this once I’ve actually tested that myself.
Price
$49.99 for a single 100ml size — squarely in clone-house pricing, though this one’s apparently using new ingredient tech instead of just copying an existing designer scent, which bumps it up my list a little. Bottle design keeps the icy-blue clouded look of the original Freeze with a scarlet-red top marking it as the new flanker.
I’ll do a real writeup once I’ve actually worn this one. For now, take the performance stuff as secondhand — not my own experience yet.
